Hair follicles undergo a repetitive sequence of growth and rest known as hair cycle. We all lose hair on a daily basis. There are several causes for hair loss. This includes systemic medical; problems, medications, dermatologic diseases vitamin toxicities and deficiencies, alopecia areata, telogen effluvium and androgenic alopecia.

Cosmetic treatment

There are many sprays and powders that give the illusion that there is less baldness. Camouflage is the simplest, easiest and cheapest way of dealing with mild alopecia. Camouflage treatment involves either adding small fibres held in place electro statically or dyeing the scalp the same colour as the hair to create the illusion of thicker hair.

Wigs are an alternative to scalp surgery .For women, an alternative to full wig is a smaller hair piece that can either be interwoven with existing hair or worn over the top of existing hair.
